Jaden Smith’s Water Box
We are incredibly grateful for EMA Executive Board Officer Jaden Smith’s impactful contributions to social and environmental activism, especially his role in providing safe drinking water to residents of Flint, Michigan. In March 2019, Jaden and his team launched their first Water Box in Flint, which has provided over 100,000 gallons of clean water and prevented the use of 100,000 single-use plastic bottles. Soon after the launch, Jaden and EMA Board Member Drew Fitzgerald brought the Water Box to the 2019 EMA IMPACT Summit to display the importance of clean and safe drinking water for all humans and the environment. The team’s impact in Flint didn’t stop at one Water Box; in early November 2019, they launched the second Water Box—donated in Ellen DeGeneres’ name—to increase the availability of clean water for Flint’s residents.
