Mana Boxes
Mana Boxes:
one-of-a-kind pieces created by local women artisans in South Africa
2020 has been a lot for all of us, but we are grateful for the time we've had to appreciate the true gifts in our lives. As we continue to give thanks and reflect, EMA has found the most special partner to help us with that goal. Giving back and giving go hand in hand, and we’ve discovered the most beautiful way to do just that.
Mana Boxes started as a brainchild of Michelle Klassen Merrigan and Anni Wilhelmi, after they realized how much of an impact COVID-19 was having on their communities. Anni, in Cape Town, South Africa, and Michelle, in Detroit, Michigan, knew they had to do something. After the Mana Kickstarter was successfully funded in under 36 hours, Michelle and Anni knew Mana really could make a difference.
By supporting their mission, you are choosing to sponsor a local artisan in need of financial stability. These amazing women craft intricate products and pour themselves into their livelihoods. When you purchase a Mana subscription, you are empowering a woman to grow her business, which benefits her family and community. It creates a far-reaching impact, far beyond the cost of a box.

The stories behind Mana are tales of perseverance and strength, even in the face of adversity. Each and every woman involved in the boxes has overcome huge obstacles to be where she is now.
"Times have been hectic due to Covid and when the order for necklaces came through, we got so excited because we were starving. I managed to buy food for my family and save (for) the little emergencies. I would like to thank you all... it saved my family from starving."
